Privacy Policy

This page explains what information FrozenForge collects, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. It covers our website (frozenforge.net, including the forums), our live map and shop dashboard, and the Minecraft server at mc.frozenforge.net. FrozenForge is run by Vortex Networks (“we,” “us,” “our”). Using any of these means you accept this policy along with our Terms of Service.

The short version

• We collect what we need to run a whitelisted Minecraft community and keep it safe – not more.
• We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t run ads or advertising trackers.
• A lot of what you do here is public by design: forum posts, in-game chat, and where you are on the live map.
• You can ask us to look at, fix, or delete your information at any time.

1. What we collect

When you register

Your chosen username, email address, password (we only store a scrambled, one-way hash of it – never the password itself), your Minecraft username, when you signed up, and whether your whitelist request has been approved.

What you post

Forum topics and replies, comments, and your profile details. When you post, the site also records the IP address it came from and the time.

Sign-in activity

For security, we keep the IP address and time of your five most recent logins. You can see them on your profile page, and site admins can too.

Automatic website data

Like nearly every website, our web server logs each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser and device type, and the page that referred you. We use this to keep the site secure, fix problems, and see basic traffic numbers.

On the game server

Your Minecraft username and account ID, the IP address you connect from, and your activity: joins and leaves, chat, commands, deaths and advancements, records of blocks and containers being changed (so staff can investigate griefing and roll it back), your progress in skills, jobs, and the economy, and your rank, bans, or mutes. Proximity voice chat is passed between nearby players live by our server – we don’t record or store it.

2. What’s public

Some of this information is visible to other people on purpose, so please keep it in mind when choosing names and deciding what to share:

• Forums and comments – your display name and everything you post can be read by anyone, including people who aren’t members.
• Discord – in-game chat, joins and leaves, deaths, and advancements are relayed to our Discord server. Moderation events such as kicks and mutes are posted to a staff-only channel.
• The live map (map.frozenforge.net) – shows online players’ names and their positions in the world in real time, to anyone who opens it.
• The shop dashboard (shop.frozenforge.net) – shows in-game shop activity.

Please don’t put personal details such as your real name, address, or phone number in public posts or in-game chat.

3. How we use it

• Running the website and game server, and linking your site account to your Minecraft name so we can whitelist you.
• Moderating the community, investigating cheating and griefing, and enforcing our rules and Terms.
• Protecting the site from spam, bots, and attacks.
• Sending emails about your account, such as password resets and registration messages. We don’t send marketing email.
• Troubleshooting and improving the site and server.
• Meeting legal obligations.

4. Cookies

Our site doesn’t set cookies when you’re just browsing. When you log in, WordPress sets cookies that keep you signed in (and remember you if you tick “Remember Me”), plus a short test cookie on the login page. If you leave a comment, your browser may remember your name and email for next time. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. If you block cookies, you can still read the site but you won’t be able to log in.

Some content on our pages is loaded directly from other companies, which means your browser contacts them and they can see your IP address: the Cloudflare security check on login and registration, Google Fonts (for the site’s typeface), and Gravatar (for profile pictures). See section 5.

5. Who else handles your information

We use a few outside services to run FrozenForge. They only get what they need to do their job:

• Cloudflare – our traffic passes through Cloudflare for delivery, DNS, and attack filtering, and its Turnstile check helps stop bots on the login and registration forms.
• OVHcloud – we run our servers on a virtual server rented from OVHcloud.
• Google – handles our email for frozenforge.net, and provides the fonts used on the site.
• Gravatar – if you use a Gravatar profile picture, a hashed form of your email address is used to look it up.
• Wordfence – a security plugin that watches for malicious login attempts and traffic, and may share technical details of attacks (such as the IP addresses involved) with Wordfence.
• Discord – hosts our community chat and receives the in-game messages described above.
• Mojang and Microsoft – when you join, they confirm that your Minecraft account is genuine. Bedrock players are verified through their Microsoft account.
• Server list sites – we advertise the server on public lists. We give them public details such as our name, address, and description – not information about you.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or if the service is ever transferred to new owners. We do not sell or rent your personal information. Once information reaches an outside service, that company’s own privacy policy applies to it.

6. Children

FrozenForge is for people aged 13 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and we’ll delete any account we discover belongs to someone under that age. If you’re under 18, please get a parent or guardian’s permission before signing up. If you’re a parent and believe your child under 13 has registered, contact us and we’ll remove the account.

7. How long we keep it

• Account details – for as long as your account exists.
• Login history – only your latest five entries, replaced as you log in again.
• Web server logs – roughly five to six weeks, then deleted.
• Game server logs and player data – server logs are kept for a limited time; player data, stats, and block records are kept as long as they’re useful for running the server and handling disputes, and are cleared out from time to time.
• Ban and abuse records – kept longer, so that banned players can’t simply come back.
• Backups – we back the server up regularly, so deleted information can remain in a backup for a limited time before it ages out.

8. Your choices

• See or change your details – edit your email, password, and Minecraft username from your profile page after logging in.
• Get a copy, or have information deleted – email us and we’ll help. Deleting your website account doesn’t automatically remove your game data, so tell us if you want that removed too and we’ll take you off the whitelist and delete what we reasonably can.
• Things we may need to keep – such as ban records, or information we’re required to retain.
• Your local rights – depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your information, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us and we’ll do our best to honour them. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.

9. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords only as hashes, filter malicious traffic, limit who has admin access, and keep our software updated. No system is perfectly secure, though, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.

10. Where your information goes

We operate from the United States. If you use FrozenForge from another country, your information will be handled in the United States, and by providers such as Cloudflare and Google that process data in many locations.

11. Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when our practices change and change the “last updated” date at the top. For significant changes we’ll also let members know through the site or our Discord.
